Compensating foot for sewing cord, piping, tape and making tunnels
The #38 foot, in addition to being suitable for sewing anything you can fit into the tunnel in the runner, is often called a "compensating foot" because of the different thicknesses of the two halves of the runners. This makes it ideal for creating narrow and medium piping, as well as sewing unevenly thick layers of material.
The right side of the #38 foot is higher than the left, which allows for easy sliding over layers of material while sewing. In addition to the piping, this foot is also suitable for sewing thick tape, cord and ribbon, strings or Velcro.
